Nissan already has one of the most extensive and complete sport utility vehicle lineups in the industry, but the Japanese manufacturer still feels there are some needs that it hasn’t yet catered to. Enter the all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai.
The Qashqai is a subcompact SUV that will slot between the smaller Juke and the new Rogue when it goes on sale this spring. Featuring a stylish exterior, plenty of features, tons of cargo space and compact dimensions that allow it to squeeze in almost everywhere, the 2017 Qashqai is the perfect SUV for young active buyers who do not want to compromise.
A fuel-efficient engine for the 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai gets a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. Although exact specifications have yet to be announced when it comes to fuel economy, the Qashqai should prove to be quite efficient in that regard. The new Qashqai will come standard with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission while a continuously variable automatic CVT gearbox along with all-wheel drive will be optional.
This engine should provide the Qashqai with enough power to get out of any situation, and also to provide the driver behind the wheel with lot of fun.
That’s good news because the Qashqai is set to compete in a very competitive segment aimed at active buyers who do not want to sacrifice driving pleasure in the name of fuel economy or interior space. Speaking of which, the new Qashqai interior was created following Nissan’s Gliding Wing interior design philosophy where everything is put in place to ensure that the driver and the passengers have plenty of room while also creating an intimate, comfortable feeling.
Behind the rear seats, a total of 648 liters is available to consumers while 1,730 liters of total cargo space is available when you lower the rear seats.
Plenty of equipment inside the 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The base 2017 Nissan Qashqai S comes standard with Bluetooth with text messaging assistance, a rear-view camera and both USB and auxiliary audio ports. Two other versions of the Qashqai, the SV and the SL, will also be available. SV owners will get 17-inch aluminum wheels, a power moonroof, dual-zone climate controls, remote engine start, cruise control, heated seats, heated leather steering wheel, a Divide-N-Hide cargo system which adds even more versatility, SiriusXM satellite radio and Nissan’s intelligent key.
The top-of-the-line SL adds a navigation system, NissanConnect connectivity system, Around View monitor, 19-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch color display infotainment touchscreen, and a lot more.
There will also be a ton of active safety and driver assistance technologies offered on the new 2017 Qashqai. These include forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
